Born a Midwesterner and raised in Georgia, Miller was first exposed to the industry by his uncle and later crafted his skills upon meeting Jeff Ingram, a young sommelier opening his own restaurant, The Brickyard. Ingram took Miller under his wing and taught him the ropes of the restaurant business. Miller’s diligence and desire to learn was rewarded when he became a partner in the business and later, earned his certification as a sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers in 2012.
Miller served as Beverage Manager for Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Atlanta from 2007 - 2009. In 2011, he took the sommelier position at The Greenbrier Resort’s premier restaurant, Prime 44 West, where he helped to sculpt the beverage program. In August 2013, he relocated to Bluffton, South Carolina and joined the team at the acclaimed Inn at Palmetto Bluff as sommelier. During which time, Miller won the coveted 2014 Music to Your Mouth Sommelier Smack Down. In 2016, Miller joined the opening team at FARM restaurant in Old Town Bluffton, building the beverage program from the ground up. 2019 saw Thaddeus return to Palmetto Bluff as the Director of Beverage. This new position entailed overseeing all aspects of beverage at the resorts nine restaurants, in-room dining, and banquets. Wine tasting, cocktail creation, food pairing, and educational classes for amateurs and professionals alike, are all part of a normal day.
Miller combines his passion for wine, food, service, and a great story, to leave a remarkably unique impression on those whom he encounters. Now calling Old Town Bluffton home, he is encouraged and supported by his wife, Christa, and his two very spoiled dogs.
